If you're thinking about ordering a commission please get in touch. I work from a photo and choosing the right reference photo is very important , as it determines the amount of detail in the final result. I blow up your photo to at least A4 size, so bear in mind that what looks good on your phone might not look as sharp when enlarged. Try zooming in to see what it looks like. Photos taken in natural light are preferable to avoid that flash eye. 

My favourite photos, but not essential are with the pet looking at or slightly away from the camera. The magic happens in the eyes, its the best way for me to connect emotionally with the subject, and by the time I've spent hours staring into their eyes I almost feel like I know the animal and it makes such a difference to the final result. 

Think about what you'd like for the finished result. If I paint on paper, the finished piece will be delivered to you with a mount, ready to frame. If I paint on canvas, you can choose to have the canvas edges painted so that the finished piece does not require framing. Once we've chosen the best reference photo we can discuss the overall look, whether a background is required etc. You can see from the gallery pictures that I like to practically fill the frame with the subject.
